MP: Rare Eurasian Vulture released in Sarar Beat of Raisen Forest Division; vulture restaurant to be built in Sarar Beat


Bhopal: A Eurasian Vulture (rare species of vulture) was successfully released near Halali Dam on Saturday under Forest Division Raisen. This vulture was rescued from Satna Forest Division and brought to Mukundpur Rescue Center and Van Vihar for treatment. After the treatment of the vulture, it was released when it recovered.


Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rajesh Khare said that the vulture was released at this place in Sarar Beat of Raisen Forest Division keeping in mind the favorable conditions, environment and their number for vultures.


He said that preparations are going on at the government level to build a vulture restaurant at this place. In the coming days, 6 vultures from the Vulture Breeding Center in Bhopal will also be released at this place.


Principal Chief Forest Conservator and Forest Force Chief Shri Aseem Shrivastava told about the medicines given for the treatment of cattle, which have been banned by the government and which are fatal for vultures. He said that Diclofenac, Nimesulide, Ketoprofen and Aceclofenac medicines which were given for the treatment of animals, have been completely banned and their use is also illegal. 


Shrivastava said that the huge decline in the number of vultures was due to these medicines. Chief Wildlife Conservator Shri Shubhranjan Sen told that a sample of medicines has also been provided to the employees. These medicines will not cause any harm to the vultures.


On this occasion, Chief Forest Conservator Bhopal, Forest Divisional Officer Raisen, Vidisha, Deputy Forest Divisional Officer Raisen, Vidisha, WWF and BNHS team were present.
