Reports have emerged regarding the damage to the statue of Veer Tejaji Maharaj by anti-social elements in Pratapnagar Sector-3 of Sanganer, located in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. This vandalism has incited anger among local residents.
In response to the incident, a traffic jam has occurred on the Jaipur-Tonk road as protesters have closed local markets and burned tires in demonstration. A heavy police presence has been deployed to manage the situation.
Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal condemned this incident and demanded the Jaipur Police Commissioner to nab the culprits soon and take strict legal action against them. He said that such an act by anti-social elements is a violation of public faith, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Religious sentiments hurt: VHP
Besides, Vishwa Hindu Parishad's district secretary Vishnu Sharma also told that this Tejaji temple is a years old place, it has faith in millions of people of Hindu society. He said that some anti-social elements have vandalized Tejaji's statue. This has hurt the religious sentiments of the people, so hundreds of local people along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal workers have blocked the road. Till there is a concrete assurance from the police administration, people will remain on the streets. We have given a 12-hour ultimatum to the police administration for this.
SP visits protest site
SP Tejaswini Gautam reached the protest site and pacified the people. She said that whoever has done this deliberately or anti-social elements have done this, they will be caught soon. The SP told the people who were creating ruckus that first of all you should leave the protest site, so that we can focus our full attention on catching the accused. Also, on the demand of the people, she said that soon a similar statue of Tejaji will be installed.
The Rajasthan government had announced the formation of Veer Tejaji Kalyan Board in March 2023. The objective of this board is to take stock of the condition of the society and give suggestions to alleviate their backwardness.
In April 2023, protests were also held against the attempt to remove the statue of Veer Tejaji Maharaj in Tilak Nagar of Barmer district, in which leaders of different political parties participated.
