Earthquake: Myanmar has not yet recovered from the devastation on March 28, when earthquake tremors were felt there again on Sunday (April 13). According to the US Geological Survey, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Meiktila in central Myanmar on Sunday morning. However, there was no loss of life this time. Earthquake tremors were also felt in some parts of India.
A devastating earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hit the same region of Myanmar on March 28. Myanmar has not yet recovered from this devastation. Relief work is going on. Meanwhile, the latest earthquake has increased the concern of the people.
Mandalay, the epicenter of the recent earthquake, is Myanmar's second largest city, which was badly affected in last month's quake. Many government offices in the capital Naypyidaw have also been affected during the last earthquake.
According to military spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun, 3,649 people have lost their lives so far due to the earthquake in March. More than 5,000 people are injured. Since then, hundreds of earthquakes have occurred in Myanmar, but this was the most powerful tremor. Thankfully, there is no report of much damage and casualties yet.
3.4 Richter magnitude tremor in Mandi
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake struck Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh at 9 am. A tremor of 3.4 Richter magnitude was recorded here at a shallow depth of 5 km. The epicentre was located at 31.49 degrees north, 76.94 degrees east.
Two tremors in Tajikistan
Tajikistan was also hit by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake at 9.54 am. It was originally estimated to have a magnitude of 6.4. The quake struck at a depth of 10 km. Its epicentre was at 38.86 degrees north, 70.61 degrees east, making it the most powerful quake of the morning.
