Gilahraj Hanuman Temple: Hanuman ji is worshipped along with Lord Ram not only in India but all over the world. There are many temples of Hanuman ji and those temples have their own different beliefs and specialties associated with them. Lord Hanuman is worshipped in different ways in these temples. One of these temples is Hanuman temple which is famous all over the world is in Aligarh district of UP.
The special thing is that here Hanuman ji is worshipped as a squirrel. According to beliefs, if devotees worship here continuously for 41 days, then all their wishes can be fulfilled. This unique temple is located in Aligarh, about which we are going to tell you.
You must have seen thousands of temples of Hanuman, but this temple is unique in itself where you have hardly seen such a form of Hanuman. The temple of Hanuman ji located on the banks of Achal Tal Sarovar is known as Gilharaj Temple.
There are more than 50 other temples around it. But the beliefs associated with this temple are different from all others. It is believed that this temple is the only one in India where Hanuman ji is worshipped in the form of a squirrel.
Lord Rama asked Hanuman ji to rest for a while
According to religious texts, when Lord Rama was building the Ram Setu bridge, during that time Lord Rama asked Hanuman ji to rest for a while. But Hanuman ji did not rest. At that time he took the form of a squirrel and helped Ram ji's army in building the bridge. When Lord Rama saw Hanuman ji in the form of a squirrel, he stroked him and the line of his hand was formed on the back of the squirrel which can be seen till date.
How old is the temple
It is said that this temple is very ancient but not much information is available about the exact time. During the Mahabharata period, Lord Krishna's brother Dauji Maharaj worshiped Hanuman ji here for the first time in the form of a squirrel. It is believed that by worshipping at this temple for 41 consecutive days, sorrows and pains can be alleviated. Visiting this place is thought to help mitigate the wrath of Saturn and other planets. Here, you can see Hanuman ji seated in the form of a squirrel.
