The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the formation of a dedicated task force to assist displaced Afghan women cricketers. ICC Chairman Jay Shah announced this in a post on social media platform X.
He wrote, "I am proud to announce on behalf of the ICC that we have taken a historic initiative in collaboration with BCCI, England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Australia."
Shah said, "Under this we will provide assistance to displaced Afghan women cricketers in their cricket and development journey."
According to a statement released on the ICC website, for this assistance, the ICC has joined hands with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA) to help these players in both cricket and personal development.
According to the statement, "The ICC will create a special fund that will provide direct financial assistance so that these cricketers can continue playing the game they love and get the resources they need."
The ICC said that along with this, a program will also be run which will provide coaching, world-class facilities and personal guidance so that these players can reach their full potential.
