Pakistani contents songs, movies, web series fully banned in India: Govt orders to remove content from all streaming platforms

Pakistani Contents Banned in India: In view of the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has banned all songs, films, web series and other contents from Pakistan in India. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a new order to OTT platforms and all media streaming platforms running in India in which it has directed all streamers to immediately stop broadcasting Pakistani content. Due to this decision, a financial crisis may loom over Pakistan.

The Ministry of Information issued a notice on Thursday. The notice reads that in the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to stop broadcasting web-series, movies, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content made on Pakistan, whether it is a subscription based model or not, with immediate effect.

This decision comes a day after the Indian Army's Operation Sindoor. In retaliation to the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22, the Indian Army fired missiles at 9 terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK. Operation Sindoor lasted from 1.04 am to 1.30 am on May 6. During this, the Indian Armed Forces attacked 9 terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Wednesday.

Earlier, the government had banned any real-time coverage, dissemination of visuals or reporting based on 'source based' information related to defense operations and activities. Under this, premature disclosure of sensitive information could inadvertently aid enemy elements and jeopardize operations and the safety of personnel.
