Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has clarified his comment on Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.
During a public event, he had said that 'BJP ministers are targeting Sophia Qureshi because she was a Muslim, but Wing Commander Vyomika Singh was saved because of her caste.'
Ram Gopal Yadav further said that BJP minister Vijay Shah did not know about Vyomika Singh or Air Marshal AK Bharti, otherwise the party would have abused them too. He hinted that minister Vijay Shah thought Vyomika Singh was a Rajput although she is a Jatav (Dalit). So she was not targeted by Shah.
On this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized his statement and said that the army uniform is not seen through 'casteist glasses'.
CM Yogi wrote on the social media platform X, "Every soldier of the Indian Army performs 'Rashtradharma' and is not a representative of any caste or religion."

Giving clarification on this, Ram Gopal Yadav wrote on social media platform X, "I am surprised that the Chief Minister, under whose nose unimaginable atrocities are being committed on minorities, Dalits and backward classes, tweeted my entire statement without listening to it."
He wrote, "I have no complaints against the media channels because no one except the ruling party trusts them."
Ram Gopal also said that in Uttar Pradesh, fake cases are filed against people on the basis of religion, caste and class, encounters are carried out on the basis of caste and religion.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh had participated in the press conference on 'Operation Sindoor' along with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sophia Qureshi.
Vijay Shah, a minister in the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh, had made a controversial comment about Colonel Qureshi, after which the High Court had ordered to register an FIR against him.
