Bihar assembly election 2025: Recently, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan has expressed his desire to contest the assembly elections several times. It is believed that he is on the way to becoming the new Nitish Kumar in state politics. The BJP leadership is keeping an eye on Chirag's strategy and steps.
Chirag has said many times that he wants to return to Bihar politics. Sources say that he will contest from a general seat instead of a reserved seat. The BJP leadership believes that Chirag Paswan can contest from any seat he receives in the NDA's seat-sharing arrangement.
Be it cricket or politics, timing is important in both places. Chirag Paswan's activism in Bihar politics has increased at a time when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's political opponents believe that his time in Bihar is about to end. Even in terms of age, Nitish Kumar is not considered a long-race horse in Bihar politics.
Chirag can become the face to unite the major political parties
Chirag believes that he can become the face to unite the major political parties in the state politics. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Chirag Paswan's party got 6.47% votes and won 5 seats.which seems to have boosted his confidence.
Chirag wants to connect women and youth with him
A senior leader and former MP of Bihar BJP says, "The Paswan community in Bihar is with Chirag, but he does not want to limit himself to just the leader of the Paswan community. He wants to increase the mass base. He is engaged in 'jugaad' to connect women and youth with him."
At the same time, a section of the BJP leadership believes that the party has not been able to prepare its leaders in Bihar and Chirag Paswan is taking advantage of this.
Chirag wants to become next Nitish Kumar
A BJP leader said, "Chirag contesting from a general seat is an indication that he wants to become the next Nitish Kumar in Bihar politics. Nitish has ruled Bihar politics for two decades even without a clear majority and has got more than 20% of the votes. BJP these days prepares workers, not leaders."
In the current political situation, senior BJP leaders believe that they do not have many options other than keeping Nitish Kumar as the face. Bihar is very important for the BJP to keep itself strong in national politics. The BJP is looking at the announcement of caste census as a way to strengthen its position in Bihar.
