Rahul Gandhi has made continuous visits to Bihar to engage with the extremely backward and Dalit communities, which has made him appear more effective than Tejashwi. Along with this, the Congress has planned to hold simultaneous dharnas on issues like employment and migration in all 38 districts of Bihar, which is a part of its aggressive politics.
Congress made big changes in organization
Congress has also made many big changes in the organization. By removing Akhilesh Singh, who was close to Lalu Yadav, from the post of state president, Congress handed over this post to a Dalit leader. Apart from this, Congress also took a big step regarding Bihar in-charge. With all these steps, Congress is trying to show itself strong in the state.
No consensus in Mahagathbandhan
Mahagathbandhan includes Congress, RJD, CPI-ML and Mukesh Sahni's VIP Party. But, in the three meetings of the alliance so far, neither any consensus was reached on seat sharing, nor any common programs have been decided so far. All the parties are showing their strength. RJD is trying to strengthen its traditional Muslim-Yadav vote bank. At the same time, CPI-ML has its eyes on Dalit and rural voters. On the other hand, Congress is trying to play a leading role in the alliance as per its strategy.
Will the political equations change?
How much will this strategy of Congress strengthen its position in Bihar, only the election results will tell. But it is clear that Congress is leaving no stone unturned to increase its strength in the alliance and defeat its ally RJD. Now the question arises whether this strategy will give it new political ground in Bihar or will it create a rift in the alliance, only time will tell.
