NCP was split into two before Maharashtra polls
Before the Maharashtra assembly elections, NCP was split into two. Ajit Pawar faction of NCP had formed an alliance with BJP. On the other hand, Sharad Pawar faction of NCP kept itself away from BJP due to ideological differences.
What is the reason for the merger
Actually municipal corporation elections are to be held in Maharashtra. Before this Sharad Pawar faction is worried that their MLAs may break away and join Ajit Pawar's faction. At the same time, the political power of Pawar family and NCP may also dwindle due to their separation. Due to which both factions may decide to unite.
Signs of merger
NCP was split into two but Pawar family members did not stop meeting each other. Family members kept uniting on every occasion. Whether it was Sharad Pawar's birthday or something else. Ajit Pawar's mother was also seen constantly talking about the family being united. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar were seen together on public platforms many times.
