Bihar Assembly Elections-2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar was not only limited to development schemes, but a big political strategy is also hidden behind it. On Friday, PM Modi reached Motihari in East Champaran. There he started 'Mission Champaran' by laying the foundation stone and inaugurating schemes worth more than Rs 7217 crore. The purpose of this tour is clear - to strengthen the BJP's hold in East and West Champaran.
Through a huge public meeting organized in Motihari, the PM tried to give the message that the central government is fully committed to the development of Bihar. PM Modi announced several schemes related to connectivity, IT, startups, railways, roads and housing of the state.
PM Modi took a big step towards strengthening railway connectivity by flagging off four Amrit Bharat trains. Apart from this, Modi transferred an amount of Rs 162 crore to 40,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Out of this, 12,000 beneficiaries made Grih Pravesh, and the PM symbolically handed over the keys of the house to five beneficiaries.
BJP's eyes the voters of Champaran belt
The Champaran belt is considered to be the stronghold of BJP in Bihar. The party has a good dominance on the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats here. The Prime Minister's objective of wooing Champaran voters from Motihari is evident.
Both East and West Champaran districts are adjacent to each other and border Nepal. This area is of strategic importance from both geographical and political perspectives. PM Modi is also eyeing border areas like Raxaul, from where international trade activities take place and these are also sensitive areas from the security point of view. In such a situation, development projects and public relations here can be beneficial for the BJP.
Special focus on Bihar through continuous visits
This is PM Modi's fifth visit to Bihar this year. From April to July, PM Modi is communicating with the public through some program in Bihar every month.
April: Rally in Madhubani
May: Road show in Patna and rally in Bikramganj
June: Public meeting in Siwan
July: Motihari visit
In this way, BJP has registered a continuous presence in the state in the election year. So far, the central government has given the gift of schemes worth more than Rs 80,000 crore to Bihar. This shows that BJP does not want to leave any stone unturned for the 2025 assembly elections.
Eye on lost seats, effort to strengthen hold on won seats
Modi's Motihari visit is not limited to the announcement of development schemes only, but is also a strategy to impact those seats which the NDA alliance had lost last time. The contest was tough in many assembly seats of East and West Champaran of Bihar. Now BJP is preparing to capture these seats again. Along with this, efforts are being made to maintain the trust of the public through development in the assembly seats which are already occupied by BJP MLAs.
PM Modi targeted the opposition
In the public meeting, PM Modi targeted the opposition and held them responsible for pushing Bihar into backwardness and said that now the state is on the path of development and this process will not stop.
By showering development schemes in the Champaran belt and through continuous public meetings, PM Modi is trying to create an atmosphere in favor of BJP in the state once again. Now it remains to be seen how much ground this mission started from Champaran is able to prepare for BJP across the state and whether this strategy will be able to take BJP to the target of 21 seats in 2025 or not.
