Elon Musk has said he is starting a new political party. A few weeks after differences with US President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk said that he is going to form a new political party.
On the social media platform X, he has announced that he has founded the 'America Party' and it will challenge the bipartisan political party Republican and Democratic of America.
However, it is not yet clear whether the party has been formally registered with the US Election Authority or not. Musk has also not given information about what will be the form of the party and who will lead the party?
Musk had expressed the possibility of launching a party after a public dispute with Trump.
The Federal Election Commission has not published any information till Saturday, which can show that any party has been formally registered.
Elon Musk was a major supporter of Trump during the 2024 election and donated $250 million to ensure his victory.
After the election victory, Trump appointed Musk as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Its job was to identify budget cuts.
What was behind Trump and Musk's fallout
Behind the President and Musk's fallout was a massive package of spending and tax breaks that Trump had described as a "big, beautiful bill", while his former government efficiency chief had called it "utterly insane and destructive".
The idea of a new political party was always there, waiting for Trump to sign the bill into law. And as Trump signed the bill during the July 4 celebrations at the White House, Musk asked his supporters online whether he should go ahead with the new party.
With the poll in his favour, Musk declared, "By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party, and you shall have it."
