BCCI issues update on Shreyas Iyer's health

Indian cricket team ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was hospitalized with a rib injury during the third ODI against Australia. His condition is now stable.

The BCCI has issued a statement regarding his health.

The statement said, "Shreyas Iyer sustained a lower left rib injury while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation."

The statement added, "A scan revealed a spleen injury. He is undergoing treatment, is medically stable, and is recovering well."

BCCI medical team closely monitoring injury

The BCCI says its medical team, in consultation with specialist doctors in Sydney and India, is closely monitoring his injury.

"Team India doctors will remain with Shreyas in Sydney and monitor his daily recovery."

Iyer took a brilliant catch of Australian cricketer Alex Carey on Saturday.

He ran backwards to take the catch and fell, injuring his left rib. He was immediately taken to the hospital after returning to the dressing room.

Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to a hospital in Sydney. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to media reports, he has suffered a broken left rib. It is being reported that this injury may keep Iyer away from cricket for up to three weeks.

Shreyas will be kept under observation

According to sources Shreyas has been in the ICU for the past few days. After the reports came back, internal bleeding was detected, and he had to be admitted immediately. He will be kept under observation for two to seven days, depending on his recovery, as it was important to prevent the infection from spreading due to the bleeding.

Shreyas is likely to remain in Sydney for the next few days. According to reports, visas are being arranged for his parents so they can meet him.
