Chhattisgarh: "Green Cave" discovered in Bastar's Kanger Valley, why it is so amazing and when will it open to tourists

Jagdalpur: The Kanger Valley National Park, located in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, has uncovered another natural wonder. The "Green Cave," discovered near the world-famous Kutumsar Cave, is poised to attract tourists and researchers from around the world with its unique green-gold lichen cover and magnificent stalactites. The administration aims to open it to the public by January 1, 2026, the new year.

According to Naveen Kumar, Director of Kanger Valley National Park, the Green Cave's structure is similar to Kutumsar's, but its distinctive features are its lichen-covered stalactites and 60- to 80-foot-high ceiling, which emit an ethereal green glow when illuminated. He stated that technical approvals for access and security are pending, and it will soon be included on the tourism map.

Bastar is already renowned for its natural heritage. The discovery of the Green Cave will not only boost local tourism but also mark a new chapter for nature lovers and researchers. This cave has become another living testimony to Chhattisgarh's geological richness.

Kanger Valley National Park is home to several other underground limestone caves, including Kotumsar, Kailash, and Dandak

Only three caves (Kotumsar, Kailash, and Dandak) have been open to the public previously.

Kanger Valley National Park is known for its rich biodiversity, including wildlife and plant life. Other attractions in the park include the Tirathgarh waterfall

Access to the caves requires a 2-hour safari and may involve a longer trek. The caves are generally closed during the monsoon season
