Shubman Gill May Lead India in ODI Series Against Australia

Shubman Gill is going to be the captain of India’s ODI team for the upcoming three-match series against Australia. This change is part of a plan to prepare for the 2027 ICC World Cup.

Rohit Sharma, who is 38, was expected to lead the team, but after a long break from cricket and his recent performance, the selectors decided to go with Gill instead.

Hardik Pandya, Rishabh will not be playing

Hardik Pandya is out due to an injury, and young player Nitish Reddy might get a chance to play. Rishabh Pant is also injured and will not be playing.

If Gill needs a rest, the selectors will choose between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma to open the batting with Rohit.

KL Rahul will be the main wicketkeeper, while Sanju Samson might be chosen as the backup keeper over Dhruv Jurel.

India will play three ODIs in Australia on October 19, 23, and 25, followed by five T20 matches from October 29 to November 8.

Gill has already been the Test captain after Rohit retired from Test matches and has been performing well. Rohit and Virat Kohli are expected to be part of the ODI squad, but Rohit will not be the captain anymore.
