Dev Diwali is one of the most important festivals in Hinduism. It is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. This year, it will be celebrated on November 5, 2025. 

Dev Diwali is also known as 'Deepawali of the Devs or Gods.' It is believed that on this day, the gods themselves descend from heaven to earth and decorate the banks of the Ganges with diyas (lamps).

The sight of Dev Deepawali in Varanasi is especially famous worldwide, where the entire ghat area is illuminated by the light of millions of lamps. According to Hindu folklore, bathing in the Ganges on the day of Dev Deepawali, lighting lamps in homes, lighting 365 lamps on the banks of the Ganges, and worshipping Lord Shiva are considered of utmost importance. It is believed that doing so absolves all sins and leads to salvation.

According to the calendar, the festival of Dev Deepawali is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. This time, the full moon day will last for two days, but due to the predominance of the full moon during the Udayatithi and Pradosh period, the festival will be celebrated on November 5, 2025.

Kartik Purnima Tithi begins on November 4, 2025, at 10:36 pm.

Kartik Purnima Tithi ends on November 5, 2025, at 6:48 pm.

According to the calendar, the festival of Dev Deepawali will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

This will be the Pradosh Kaal Muhurat for Dev Deepawali Puja

It is always considered auspicious to offer lamps during the Pradosh Kaal on Dev Deepawali. During this time, lamps are lit on all the ghats in Varanasi.

The Pradosh Kaal Dev Deepawali Muhurat will be from 5:15 pm to 7:50 pm (approximately). Duration: 2 hours 35 minutes (approximately).

Worshipping Lord Shiva is considered of utmost importance because the festival of Dev Deepawali is directly linked to Lord Shiva. This is why it is also known as 'Lord Shiva's Deepawali' or 'Tripurari Purnima'.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
