15 die as tempo traveller rams into parked trailer in Rajasthan's Phalodi
A major road accident occurred in Phalodi, Rajasthan. A tempo-traveler rammed into a parked trailer in Matoda, Bapini subdivision on Bharat Mala Highway. Fifteen passengers were killed in the accident. The deceased included four children and two women.
According to reports, the occupants of the tempo-traveler had traveled from Jodhpur's Sursagar to Kolayat to visit Kapil Muni's ashram on Devuthani Ekadashi. The accident occurred in the Matoda police station area while returning. The collision was so severe that the front portion of the tempo-traveler was completely damaged.
Matoda police station officer Amanaram said, "The accident occurred around 6:30 pm on the Bharat Mala Highway. The tempo-traveler rammed into a parked trailer from behind. Two injured were referred to Jodhpur after receiving first aid. All the bodies were sent to Jodhpur from the Osian government hospital."
The police officer said, "After the accident, a lot of effort was required to rescue the injured and take out the dead bodies trapped in the tempo traveller. Everyone was pulled out with the help of villagers. A crowd of people gathered at the spot after the accident."
Eyewitness Mahipal Saran said, "People have opened small dhabas on the side of the Bharat Mala Highway. The trailer was parked in front of the dhaba. The speeding tempo traveller was moving in its lane from behind and was trying to overtake the truck moving ahead in the third lane. Suddenly, the traveller collided with the truck parked on the roadside."
District Collector Shweta Chauhan said all the bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the government hospital in Osian, while the injured have been referred to Jodhpur for treatment.
Police Commissioner Om Prakash Paswan said that a green corridor has been created to ensure the injured receive timely medical treatment, adding that the administration is focused on saving lives and providing necessary assistance.
Om Prakash Paswan said, "A road accident occurred in which a few people were tragically killed. We are arranging treatment for the injured... A green corridor is being established to quickly transport the injured to a facility where they can receive proper medical treatment. The administration is focused on saving the lives of those injured and will release further details as more information becomes available..."
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident, calling it "extremely tragic and heart-rending," and directed district officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
In a post on X, Bhajanlal Sharma wrote, "The loss of lives in the road accident in the Matoda area of Phalodi is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families."
