Delhi Red Fort blast: 50 kg of explosives found again in Faridabad, two arrested
A day after the Delhi blast that killed 13 people, police arrested two people in Faridabad, Haryana, on Tuesday and recovered about 50-60 kilograms of explosive material. The arrests and seizures came a day after police recovered 2,900 kilograms of explosives and inflammable materials from two rented rooms belonging to Kashmiri doctor Muzammil Shakeel in Faridabad.
Shakeel and another Kashmiri doctor, Adeel Ahmed Rather, were among eight people arrested for being part of a "white-collar terrorist" module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, spread across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The blast near the Red Fort in Delhi has so far claimed 13 lives. Security forces are now working to determine the cause of the explosion. Forensic teams, Delhi Police and NIA personnel, and dog squads are present at the scene and collecting samples and evidence. A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Following the Delhi blast, several states, including Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, are on high alert. Meanwhile, the Red Fort has been closed for three days, until November 13th, for security reasons.
It is suspected that a powerful explosive device caused the explosion in Delhi. Following the incident, CCTV footage of the car and its route to the scene was examined, and the registered owner was traced to Okhla, Delhi. He claimed he had sold the car to a man in Haryana. His claims are now being investigated.
