World Boxing Cup: Minakshi Hooda wins gold medal in 48 kg category; Preeti Pawar, Arundhati Chaudhary also bag gold
Indian boxer Minakshi Hooda has won the gold medal in the 48 kg event at the World Boxing Championships being held in Greater Noida.
She defeated Uzbekistan's boxer Fozilova 5-0.
Two months ago, in September, Minakshi also won a gold medal at the Women's World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.
Minakshi, who hails from Rurki Kilori village in Rohtak, Haryana, comes from a very humble family. Her father, Shrikrishna, drives an auto.
After winning the bout last September, Minakshi said that she joined the Indian paramilitary force, the ITBP, in 2021 and that it fully supports her in her sport.
Preeti Pawar, Arundhati Chaudhary also bag gold
Additionally, Preeti Pawar defeated 2025 World Cup bronze medalist Sirin Charabi of Italy to win the gold medal. Preeti rained down punches on Sirin in the women's 54 kg category and won the gold with complete control.
Following this, India's Arundhati Chaudhary defeated Aziza Zokirova of Uzbekistan in the women's 70 kg final to win the gold medal.
