After Indore incident, are 2500 families in Dhar’s Amjhera also getting supply of unsafe drinking water?

Dhar: After the incident of contaminated drinking water supply in Indore, a similar case has now come to light in MP’s Amjhera, Dhar district, where approximately 2,500 families are being supplied with muddy, black water.

This was exposed by the local public representatives themselves. Water is being supplied daily to 2,500 families in Amjhera from the Mesco Dam filter plant, supposedly after filtration.

When local leaders inspected the plant on Saturday, they discovered that the town’s people had been receiving muddy water for years, which had turned completely black. The filter plant machinery has been shut down for years. This scheme is under the supervision of the PHE department of Sardarpur.

BJP Mandal President Vijay Dixit and other district council members visited the dam. After seeing the condition of the filter plant, the public representatives informed the Sardarpur PHE department.

It was reported that the water is not potable. The TDS level of the water was found to be 450, which is not safe for drinking.

However, PHE Sardarpur SDO Navalkishore Bhuria claimed that cleaning is done periodically. The water is filtered twice. He said that local public representatives have been informed, and departmental employees have been notified. Water will be supplied after proper filtration.
