EC releases Draft Voter List in UP; 2.89 crore names removed; what to do if your name is not in the list?
Uttar Pradesh SIR Draft Roll: Following a special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for the voter list in Uttar Pradesh, the state's draft voter list was released on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The state's Chief Electoral Officer released the draft list. During this process, the names of 2.89 crore voters were removed from the UP voter list. After this, the total number of registered voters in the state stands at 12.55 crore.
You can check your name in the draft list
According to election officials, if a voter's name is not in the draft list, there is no need to panic. To check your name in the draft list, visit the Election Commission website: voters.eci.gov.in/download-eroll. Here, after selecting your state and district, you can check your vote by entering your EPIC number and name under your assembly constituency.
What to do if your name is not in the list?
If a voter's name is not in the draft voter list, they can file their claims and objections until February 6. New voters and those whose names have been removed will have to fill Form-6, those with incorrect names will have to fill Form-7, and those who want to make corrections will have to fill Form-8.
Objections can be filed until Feb 6
Both forms can be submitted online and offline. Birth certificate, proof of address, and identity proof are mandatory. Contact your local BLO (Booth Level Officer). Those whose names are not on the list can file objections until February 6th.
Previously, 15.44 crore voters were registered in the state. After the SIR process, the names of 2.89 crore voters have been removed. The highest number of names were removed due to transfers, totaling 1.26 crore.
In addition, 46 lakh names were removed due to death, and 23.70 lakh due to duplication, as they were registered at two addresses. Furthermore, 83.73 lakh voters were removed because they could not be found at their registered addresses. Names were also removed due to other categories.
