India Gets its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train; PM Modi said it will connect the land of Mother Kali to the land of Mother Kamakhya
The country received a major gift in the railway sector on Saturday, January 17. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the country's first Vande Bharat sleeper train. This modern train will run between Howrah in West Bengal and Guwahati in Assam. Significantly, all the Vande Bharat trains running so far were chair car trains, while this is the first train that will offer sleeper coach facilities to passengers.
PM Modi said this is the country's first Vande Bharat sleeper train connecting the land of Mother Kali to the land of Mother Kamakhya. He said in the coming times, this modern train will expand across the entire country; I congratulate Bengal, Assam, and the entire country on this modern sleeper train.
During the event held in Malda Town, PM Modi also inaugurated several development projects. He said that the new rail services in West Bengal will benefit passengers and boost trade. PM Modi stated that the Vande Bharat sleeper train will make long-distance travel more comfortable and provide a better experience for passengers.
The Prime Minister also announced that Bengal has received four new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These include trains running from New Jalpaiguri to Nagercoil, New Jalpaiguri to Tiruchirappalli, Alipurduar to Bengaluru, and Alipurduar to Mumbai. These new trains will strengthen connectivity between North Bengal and South and West India.
PM Modi also emphasized the self-reliance of Indian Railways. He said that today India is manufacturing its own railway engines, coaches, and metro trains. India is now producing more locomotives than the US and Europe and is also exporting train coaches to several countries. This is strengthening the country's economy and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
The launch of the Vande Bharat sleeper train will also save passengers time. The journey between Howrah and Guwahati will be reduced by approximately two and a half hours. Currently, the train journey on this route takes about 18 hours. With the new train, passengers will benefit from a comfortable journey in less time.
Self-Reliant Indian Railways
Prime Minister Modi said that today Indian Railways is not only becoming modern but also self-reliant. The country is now manufacturing its own railway engines, coaches, and metro train compartments. He stated that India is now manufacturing more locomotives than the US and Europe. It is also exporting passenger trains and metro coaches to several countries. This is strengthening the country's economy and creating new employment opportunities for young people.

Currently, the journey on this route takes about 18 hours by train. The new train will offer passengers a comfortable journey in less time, saving them both time and energy.
