MP: Medical College to Open Soon in Katni; CM Mohan Yadav Gifts Development works at ‘Krishi Mahotsav’ in Barhi

MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the state government is committed to the prosperity and development of farmers, the sons of the soil. The state has resolved to expand irrigation facilities to every village, and farmers will now receive electricity for irrigation during the daytime as well. To ensure quality education for children from needy families, grand Sandipani schools are being established across the state. He also announced that a medical college will soon be opened in Katni. CM was addressing the Kisan Mahotsav (Farmers’ Festival) held in Barhi of Katni district on Saturday.

During Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced gifts of development works worth Rs 1,000 crore for Katni and inaugurated and performed Bhoomi Poojan of 97 development works worth Rs 243 crore for Vijayraghavgarh. These include newly constructed bridges, a college and a Sandipani school. A short film focusing on farmers’ prosperity was also screened at the event. Citizens of Vijayraghavgarh warmly welcomed Dr. Yadav during a grand road-show. CM expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic reception.



CM Dr. Mohan Yadav also announced the beautification of Bada Talab under the Jal Ganga Samwardhan Campaign and distributed benefits to eligible beneficiaries of various government schemes. At the Kisan Sammelan held in the sacred town of Vijaynath Dham, Barhi, he visited an exhibition dedicated to farmer welfare and even took a ride on a tractor displayed there. At the conference, he was presented with a symbolic plough and a memento.

CM said that to ensure farmers’ prosperity, the government is providing adequate water, electricity and other essential facilities for irrigation. He stated that milk and dairy products have been a symbol of India’s identity for thousands of years. The state government has set a target to increase milk production from 9 per cent to 20 per cent. Under the Mata Yashoda Yojana, free milk packets will be distributed to schoolchildren to improve their health. 

CM Launches Beautification Work of Bada Talab

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, during his visit to Barhi in Katni district, inaugurated the beautification work of Bada Talab. Under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, the lake is being rejuvenated at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. The project includes the construction of ghats around the lake, installation of fountains, and other beautification works. CM also visited the Shri Vijaynath Dham Temple in Barhi, where he offered prayers to Lord Shiva and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and good health of the people of the state.

CM Receives Warm Welcome during Abhar Rally

CM participated in Abhar rally in Barhi, Katni district, on Saturday. The rally passed through the main market road and reached the programme venue. Residents of Barhi welcomed the Chief Minister by showering flower petals along the route.



CM greeted the people, while farmers, traders, public representatives, social organisations and prominent citizens warmly welcomed and felicitated him. Several organisations set up stalls along the rally route to greet the Chief Minister, including the Medical Traders’ Association, Grocery Traders’ Association, Sarafa Traders’ Association, Cloth Traders’ Association, Volleyball Sports Club, families of freedom fighters, Hardware Association, Kasodhan Gupta community, Bar Association, SAIL Union family, councilors and a large number of citizens.

Farmers Express Gratitude for Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project

Farmers expressed their gratitude to CM Dr. Mohan Yadav during the rally for approving the Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project, an ambitious scheme that will bring irrigation water to the fields of nearly 11,000 farmers across 27 villages in the Vijayraghavgarh Assembly constituency. After completion, irrigation facilities will be available across nearly 20,000 hectares of agricultural land in 27 villages of Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils, ensuring water supply for crops in the fields of about 11,000 farmers.
