PM Modi Arrives in Netherlands; To Hold Talks with Dutch PM Rob Jetten, Will Meet King and Queen
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amsterdam on Saturday. This visit by the PM Modi is aimed at strengthening the strategic and economic partnership between India and the Netherlands. The visit comes at a time when trade and investment relations between India and the European Union are witnessing continuous expansion.
Upon landing in the Dutch capital, PM Modi stated in a post on the social media platform 'X' that this visit is taking place at a juncture when the process for an India-EU Free Trade Agreement has imparted fresh momentum to bilateral economic ties and opened up new avenues for cooperation in key sectors.
PM Modi remarked, "Arrived in Amsterdam. This visit to the Netherlands comes at a time when the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union has given a significant boost to trade and investment relations. It offers an opportunity to strengthen ties in sectors such as semiconductors, water management, clean energy, and others."
The Prime Minister stated that, during his visit, he would hold talks with the Dutch Prime Minister, Rob Jetten, and meet with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Mรกxima. He also added that he looks forward to addressing members of the Indian diaspora at an event scheduled for May 16.

He noted that the Netherlands is one of India's key economic partners in Europe and has emerged as a major source of foreign investment for the country. Bilateral cooperation is steadily expanding beyond traditional trade to encompass sectors such as technology, water management, renewable energy, climate resilience, agriculture, and semiconductor manufacturing.
This visit takes place amidst ongoing efforts by India and the European Union to finalize a long-pending Free Trade Agreement. In light of global economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, both sides are accelerating negotiations to enhance market access and diversify supply chains.
Notably, in recent years, India and the Netherlands have collaborated on clean energy initiatives, green hydrogen development, and high-technology partnerships—reflecting New Delhi's broader efforts to strengthen ties with European partners in critical and emerging sectors.
