How Yogi Govt's Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is Proving a Guarantee for Daughters' Bright Future in UP; How Many Girls Have Benefited?
In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government's 'Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana' has become the primary pillar of financial security for daughters, covering everything from their birth to higher education. Administered by the Department of Women's Welfare, this scheme has set a new benchmark for transparency, driven by the use of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and digital systems.
The government claims that 27 lakh 37,703 girls have benefited from the scheme so far, with a total of Rs 674.15 crore transferred directly into their bank accounts.
The Yogi government has fully embraced technology in the implementation of the scheme. The application process is conducted via an online portal, and financial assistance is disbursed directly to beneficiaries' accounts through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This has eliminated the role of middlemen and curbed irregularities. Timely payments and a transparent system have boosted public confidence in the scheme.
This assistance not only encourages girls to pursue education but also alleviates the financial burden of schooling on families.
C. Indumathi, Director of the Department of Women's Welfare, stated that the scheme's expanding reach demonstrates that the holistic development of women and girls is a top priority on the Yogi government's agenda.
Officials have received clear instructions to ensure that no eligible girl is deprived of the benefits. To this end, directives have been issued to ensure timely registration across all districts.
Officials emphasize that 'Kanya Sumangala' is not merely a source of financial aid but also a tool to foster a positive societal mindset towards daughters.
The scheme has instilled confidence in lakhs of families that the birth of a daughter is no longer a burden, but a symbol of honor and opportunity. Under Yogi's guidance, the government aims to ensure that every daughter in the state becomes safe, educated, and self-reliant.
