MP: CM Dr. Mohan Yadav to Launch ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ Campaign on World Environment Day-2026: What Will Be Special?
MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will launch the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign at 11:00 a.m. during the State-level World Environment Day-2026 celebration to be held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, Bhopal.
On the occasion, 11 State Environment Awards across eight categories will be presented. The awards will recognise industrial units, educational institutions, social organisations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to environmental protection, pollution control and sustainable development during 2024-25.
CM will also release five course modules on Circular Economy and the documentation of 500 stepwells across 16 districts prepared under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan being implemented in Madhya Pradesh by EPCO and INTACH.
The event will also showcase noteworthy innovations and achievements in environmental conservation, circular economy and water conservation. Minister of State for Forest and Environment Dilip Ahirwar and Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal will also attend the programme.
Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign, citizens, educational institutions, industries, self-help groups, urban local bodies, panchayats and various social organisations will be encouraged to undertake plantation activities. All planted saplings will be geo-tagged and registered on the Meri LiFE Portal. The portal will facilitate monitoring and protection of geo-tagged plants.
Since its launch in 2024, the campaign has led to the plantation of millions of saplings across Madhya Pradesh. The campaign will be implemented throughout the State from June 5 to September 30, 2026, with active public participation.
On World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, a wide range of programmes will be organised across Madhya Pradesh to transform environmental conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and community-based plantation into a mass movement. This year’s celebrations will be centred on the United Nations theme, ‘Inspired by Nature, For Climate and For Our Future’ and the nationwide message, ‘Now for Climate’.
Experts, public representatives, and environmentalists will deliberate on environmental conservation, climate change, pollution control and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. The event will strengthen environmental awareness and inspire broader community participation in environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives across the State.
Diverse Programmes to be Organised at the District Level
Public awareness campaigns, seminars, rallies, painting and essay competitions, plantation drives, cleanliness activities, and environmental pledge programmes will be organised across all districts. Active participation of schools, colleges, NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra and voluntary organisations will be ensured.
Special programmes will be conducted on the themes ‘One Tree – Many Lives’ and ‘Inspired by Nature, Our Future for Climate’. Extensive activities will be undertaken to spread awareness about water conservation, biodiversity enhancement, a plastic-free environment, cleanliness and green development among the people.
