MP: President Murmu Offers Prayers and Performs Abhishek at Omkareshwar Pilgrimage Site and Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga

On the first day of her visit to Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu visited the sacred town of Omkareshwar, where she offered prayers and performed Abhishek at Omkareshwar pilgrimage site and Mamleshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. She offered special prayers and worship at both Mamleshwar and Omkareshwar temples.

Before entering the sanctum sanctorum of Mamleshwar Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, President Smt. Murmu offered Bel leaves at Nandi idol and sought blessings. Thereafter, in the main sanctum, chief priests performed Abhishek and worship of Lord Shiva in accordance with Vedic rituals and special chanting of mantras. President Murmu prayed for welfare, prosperity and good health of people across the country.

Prior to her visit to Omkareshwar pilgrimage site, Governor Mangubhai Patel welcomed her by presenting a floral bouquet.

After offering prayers at Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga, Khandwa Collector Rishav Gupta presented a memento to the President. Member of Parliament Gyaneshwar Patil also presented her with a Narmadeshwar Shivling, a conch shell and a photograph of Omkareshwar pilgrimage site as mementoes.

On this occasion, Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Vijay Shah, local MLA Narayan Patel, Indore Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade, IG Anurag Singh, senior administrative officials and public representatives were present.
