UP: Yogi Govt Gives New Wings to Girls' Education; What New 18-Point Action Plan Has Been Prepared for KGBVs
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is taking concrete steps to empower girls' education and equip Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) with modern facilities.
According to officials, directives for time-bound action on 18 key points—covering student safety, quality education, digital learning, hostel operations, sports activities, and scholarship disbursement—were issued during a recent departmental review meeting.
A government statement noted that the administration aims to provide a safe, well-equipped, and high-quality educational environment for every girl. Emphasis has also been placed on ensuring 100% attendance of students and staff, as well as providing summer holiday assignments to the students.
In view of the scorching heat, instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of air coolers, fans, exhaust fans, and generators in all schools. Schools have been directed to complete the processes related to food grain supply and ensure the availability of essential materials within one week.
The government has ordered the timely completion of approved activities, including the submission of June's progress report and the procurement of furniture, roti-making machines, washing machines, solar geysers, folk music instruments, and open gym equipment. Districts where staff contract renewals are pending have been instructed to finalize the process within a week.
Directives have been issued to ensure the availability of computers, broadband connections, and unlimited data to promote digital platform-based learning in schools. Time-bound action will be ensured by reviewing details, payment status, and bank account seeding for students from both previous and current batches under the scholarship scheme.
Instructions have been given to verify ongoing construction work—such as hostels, additional dormitories, computer labs, and toilet blocks—and to promptly submit utilization certificates. It has also been directed that construction projects nearing completion (over 90% finished) be handed over quickly so that operations can commence.
Instructions have been issued to districts where progress in the KGBV sports program has been slow to accelerate their activities and to link identified girls with sports training centers by July 3. The government is not limiting girls' education merely to classroom learning; instead, it is transforming it into a vehicle for holistic development by integrating aspects such as safety, health, digital literacy, sports, hostel facilities, and life skills.
