Adani Defence Project to give Shivpuri a new identity: missile manufacturing unit will create thousands of jobs, boost regional development
With the laying of the foundation stone for Adani Defence and Aerospace Group’s Rs 2,500 crore manufacturing unit in Pali, Shivpuri is set to become a key centre for defence manufacturing in India. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia jointly inaugurated the project on Sunday. They described it as a major milestone in Madhya Pradesh's industrial growth and India's journey towards self-reliance in the defence sector.
Addressing a large crowd at Shivpuri's Polo Ground, CM Dr. Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is consistently winning investor confidence through industry-friendly policies, superior infrastructure, and transparent governance. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has transformed from being heavily dependent on defence imports to becoming a defence exporter, with the private industry now playing a pivotal role in strengthening national security.

Major boost to jobs and defence manufacturing
The upcoming unit is expected to become South Asia's largest private-sector missile manufacturing ecosystem. Beyond manufacturing indigenous missiles and ammunition, the project is projected to generate approximately 4,000 to 5,000 direct and indirect jobs while fostering the growth of local suppliers and ancillary industries. Officials believe the project will bolster India's defence capabilities and provide a significant economic boost to the Gwalior-Chambal region.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is focused on executing development work rather than merely making announcements. Alongside the defence project, he virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 38 development works worth over Rs 211 crore in the Shivpuri district.
CM also announced several new projects
Dr. Yadav also announced several new projects, including a 14-kilometer four-lane ring road for Shivpuri, a tourism complex featuring a 108-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva, a new Tehsil office in Subhashpura, a government college in Khod, a primary health center in Veera, the Sandipani School in Kolaras, and a 200-bed pediatric hospital within the district hospital. He assured the public that there would be no shortage of funds for development works.
Project fulfills the investment commitment made by Adani Group: Scindia
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that this defense unit demonstrates the success of initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India). He said that the project fulfills the investment commitment made by the Adani Group during the 2025 Global Investors Summit and will firmly place Shivpuri on India's defense manufacturing map.
Jeet Adani stated that the facility would manufacture missiles—handling everything from raw materials to the finished product—making it one of the country's most advanced defense production centers and further strengthening Madhya Pradesh's growing identity as an industrial powerhouse.
