Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam: Message of greenery resonates at Anganwadi centers in Vidisha; children and villagers plant saplings
Vidisha: With the aim of realizing the pledge for environmental conservation and a green future, the Department of Women and Child Development organized a massive tree plantation drive across Anganwadi centers in Vidisha district under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in Mother's Name) campaign. Held under the direction of Collector Anshul Gupta and the guidance of District Programme Officer Vinita Kanswa, the campaign saw enthusiastic participation from Anganwadi workers, helpers, young children, public representatives, and villagers, all of whom planted saplings and vowed to nurture them.
During the campaign, fruit-bearing, shade-providing, and environmentally beneficial saplings were planted at various Anganwadi centers. Attendees were sensitized to the importance of trees, environmental conservation, maintaining climatic balance, and preserving natural resources. Children were also encouraged to connect with nature and care for the plants, fostering values of environmental conservation from an early age.
District Programme Officer Vinita Kanswa stated that the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign is not merely a plantation drive but a mass movement conveying a message of sensitivity and responsibility towards nature. She remarked that if every individual plants a sapling in honor of their mother and cares for it regularly, a clean, safe, and green environment can be ensured for future generations.
She mentioned that the Department of Women and Child Development has instructed all Anganwadi centers in the district to ensure the regular care and nurturing of the saplings alongside the plantation itself, so that the planted saplings can grow into trees and play a vital role in environmental conservation.
All those present on the occasion pledged to plant as many saplings as possible, care for them, and transform environmental conservation into a people's movement. Through this campaign, efforts are being made to increase greenery in the district while simultaneously spreading a message of positive awareness regarding environmental conservation within society.
