🎧 Listen to this Article:

Sagar: A new initiative by Sagar Collector Pratibha Pal is set to transform farming practices by encouraging farmers to become agri-entrepreneurs rather than relying solely on traditional agriculture. With an action plan worth Rs 23.38 crore, this initiative aims to link farmers with agro-based enterprises, create new income opportunities, and strengthen rural livelihoods.

The scheme promotes modern agricultural infrastructure and value addition through projects such as cold rooms, processing and grading units, packhouses, shade-net houses, storage facilities, dairy farms, fisheries, polyhouses, custom hiring centers, and farm mechanization. Bank linkages and government subsidies will assist farmers in launching these ventures and establishing sustainable businesses.

Many farmers evince interest in setting up warehouses

Applications have been invited from farmers across all development blocks, and many have shown interest in setting up warehouses, food processing units, and other enterprises. This initiative is expected to reduce post-harvest losses, improve storage and marketing, generate rural employment, and ensure better returns for farmers.

Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) like 'Devshree' and 'Rahli Farmers Producer Company' have also joined this effort, making the project an excellent model for self-reliant and profitable farming.
