How 'Shakti Didi' initiative is boosting women empowerment in MP's Gwalior; five more women begin work at petrol pumps
Gwalior: A unique model of women's empowerment is unfolding through the "Shakti Didi" initiative. Under this programme, women in need are being employed as fuel delivery workers at petrol pumps. Launched in line with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's vision of fostering self-reliance, the initiative has so far provided dignified employment to 123 women in the district.
On Saturday, five more women joined the initiative. Collector Ruchika Chauhan formally inducted Hemlata, Lalita, and Priyanka as "Shakti Didis" at the Jain Motors petrol pump near Kamla Raja Hospital, presenting them with special jackets and garlanding them.
Interacting with the women, the Collector encouraged them to perform their duties with confidence and assured them of full support from the district administration and police whenever needed. She also instructed the petrol pump management to ensure a safe and supportive work environment for them.
In separate events, Additional District Magistrate C.B. Prasad appointed Aarti Baghel as a "Shakti Didi" at the Ganga Filling Station in Veerpur, while Joint Collector Juhi Garg inducted Manisha at Maa Petroleum in Murar.
This initiative is creating new employment opportunities while simultaneously fostering financial independence and self-confidence among women from economically disadvantaged sections.
