MP: Injured tiger "Yuvraj," brought from Khivni Sanctuary undergoing treatment at Van Vihar Bhopal
'Yuvraj', a male tiger severely injured in an inter-tiger conflict at the Khivni Sanctuary in Dewas, is undergoing treatment under the supervision of expert veterinarians at the rescue center of Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal.
Acting on the instructions of senior officials, the tiger was rescued and brought to Van Vihar on June 27, 2026. On Friday, a detailed medical examination was conducted by Dr. S.K. Tumadiya (Senior Veterinary Surgeon, State Veterinary Hospital, Jahangirabad), Dr. Atul Gupta (Senior Wildlife Health Officer, Van Vihar), and Dr. Vineet (Veterinarian, Van Vihar).
Deep wounds on both forelimbs and the left hind leg
Initial examinations revealed deep wounds on both forelimbs and the left hind leg. X-rays confirmed fractures in both front paws. Six stitches were administered to the deep wound on the left hind leg. The tiger's movements are being continuously monitored during treatment, and necessary medical care is being provided in accordance with its health status. Dr. Atul Gupta is constantly monitoring the condition of the injured tiger.
Van Vihar Director Vijay Kumar, Assistant Director Dr. Ruhi Haq, and Safari In-charge Sita Kakodiya were also present during the inspection.
