UP Assembly Election 2027: Mayawati's decision causes upheaval in BSP; SP and Sanjay Nishad invite Akash Anand to join them
BSP chief Mayawati stated on Thursday that her nephew, Akash Anand, has been "completely freed" from the party. This announcement came shortly after Akash's father-in-law and former Rajya Sabha member, Ashok Siddharth, announced his retirement from politics.
Discussions regarding Mayawati's move removing nephew Akash have intensified in Uttar Pradesh's political circles. On Thursday, Ashok Siddharth retired from politics in an effort to save his son-in-law Akash Anand's career. Immediately following this, Mayawati removed her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party.
This turmoil within the BSP has sparked a flurry of political statements in UP. Some parties have even invited Akash Anand to join their ranks.

Commenting on Akash Anand's removal from the BSP, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Dr. Ashutosh Verma said, "There are only three or four months left in the Uttar Pradesh elections. While all other parties are finalizing their candidates, projects, and rallies, the Bahujan Samaj Party is still unable to decide who will remain in the party and who will leave. It is unfortunate, but this was bound to happen. It no longer seems likely that the grand vision of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar can be realized through the BSP."
BSP grappling with internal strife just three months before the election: SP
Samajwadi Party spokesperson Dr. Ashutosh Verma added, "This party, founded by Kanshi Ram and based on the ideology of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, has formed the government in Uttar Pradesh four times. However, the way this party—which was meant to work for the welfare of the Bahujan community—is grappling with internal strife just three months before the UP Assembly elections makes it clear that it is no longer working for the welfare of the Bahujan community."
Anand raises issues concerning the Bahujan community
SP spokesperson further stated, "As far as Akash Anand is concerned, his relationship with the party appears complicated. He has been expelled from the party and reinstated three times. Akash Anand is a young and spirited leader; he articulates his views effectively and raises issues concerning the Bahujan community. The Samajwadi Party welcomes everyone who advocates for the interests of the PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities) and raises voice for them."
Sanjay Nishad extends an invitation to join forces
Following Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati's decision to expel Akash Anand, Minister Sanjay Nishad (of NISHAD party) invited him to join his party. He said, "I would once again appeal to him to step forward. The dreams of Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram remain unfulfilled."
Sanjay Nishad added, "Together, we can realize them. He needs to make a decision, for a person dedicated to a mission never retires. He should fight for the rights and entitlements of the marginalized sections of society—those downtrodden for 5,000 years—and for the 800 million people who rely on food aid and have been brought into the mainstream of development."
