Women's Asia Cup-2026: India has won the Women's Asia Cup title for the eighth time. In the final played in Dubai, Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs. Batting first, India scored 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 111 runs in 20 overs.
The Indian women's team refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after winning the Asia Cup title. India had also refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi at the men's Asia Cup held last September.
Mohsin Naqvi, the President of the Asian Cricket Council, also serves as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Interior Minister in the Pakistan government. He had made anti-India statements during 'Operation Sindoor'. For this reason, the Indian men's team did not accept the trophy from him in 2025. Maintaining the same stance, the Indian women's team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi.
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana shared 129-run partnership
Shafali Verma scored 68 runs and Smriti Mandhana scored 59; the duo shared a 129-run partnership for the first wicket. On the bowling front, Sri Charani took 4 wickets, while Deepti Sharma claimed 3 wickets.
Shafali was the tournament's top run-scorer. She scored 236 runs in 5 matches at a strike rate of 171. Smriti Mandhana finished second, scoring 213 runs in the same number of matches.
Deepti Sharma took the most wickets in the tournament. She claimed a tournament-high 14 wickets in 5 matches, maintaining an economy rate of just 3.84. Sri Charani finished second with 12 wickets.
