Mahatma Gandhi on 71st death anniversary special 2019

The nation remembered Mahatma Gandhi on his 71st death anniversary Wednesday with President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  leading the country in paying homage to the Father of the Nation. Kovind, Modi and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid floral tributes at Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat here. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were among others who paid homage to the Father of the Nation at Rajghat, where an inter-religion prayer was held. Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite bhajan “Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram” was also played at Rajghat.  Congress  president  Rahul Gandhi  and former prime minister Manmohan Singh also paid tributes to the Mahatma at his memorial. Terrorists attacked Police Station kulgam jammu & kashmir

Terrorists attacked with grenades at the religious police station of Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Three local civilians were injured in the attack. According to the information received from the police station at Kulgam police station, the terrorists attacked the grenade at noon on Wednesday. Three people in the area have been injured in the attack. Since the attack, the entire area has been siege. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

Sachin Bansal invests Rs 150-cr in Ola

Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal has invested Rs 150 crore in Ola. It is a part of Rs 650 crore which will be invested in Bansal Ola. This information has come from the documents filed with the Corporate Affairs Ministry. On the proposal to sell the stake to Bansal, the resolution was passed on January 12 in the Board of NI Technologies. ANI Technologies operates Ola only. Ola's plan is to raise Rs 7,000 crore through funding, out of which Rs 650 crore will be received from Sachin Bansal.

Delhi: Fire breaks out at CGO complex

A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Pragati Vihar’s CGO Complex here on Saturday, fire officials said. A call about a fire was received at 9.45 am and 23 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior officer of the Delhi Fire Services said. The blaze broke out at an office situated on the first floor of the building and was brought under control by 10.20 am, the officer added. No casualties were reported, the officer said, adding that the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained.

Earthquake shocks in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba districts

A low-intensity earthquake shook Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Saturday. No loss of life or property was reported. Meteorological Centre, Shimla, Director Manmohan Singh said, “An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 12.31 pm. The epicentre was at a depth of 5 km in northeast of Chamba district, mild tremors were felt in adjoining areas.” Most parts of Himachal, including Chamba, fall in seismic sensitive zone.

ISI Detective of intelligence agency arrested in Arunachal Pradesh

a suspected Pakistani spy has been arrested from a border village in Arunachal Pradesh, sources said. The man, Nirmal Rai, lived in Tinsukhia district in Assam. He was working with the Army as a porter in Kibithu and Dichu villages. A military intelligence unit arrested him near Kibithu. He'd been under the scanner for some time, and the Army acted on a tip-off. Rai was handed over to the police and booked under the Official Secrets Act and Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code. Confidential documents and several pictures of Army installations and bridges were found on his phone.

A major fire broke out at an under-construction building of Sancheti Hospital, Nagpur. According to reports, 15 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and rescue operation is underway. Although, the cause of fire isn’t known, however, a short circuit is believed to have led to sparked flames. As of now, no casualties have been reported.

Rohit Sharma and wife Ritika Sajdeh who were recently blessed with a baby girl on December 30, 2018. Rohit on Sunday took to Twitter to reveal the name of their new-born daughter. “I spent last night On the last flight to you Took a whole day up Trying to get way up Baby Samaira,” Rohit wrote on his official Twitter handle. Rohit could not be present to witness the birth of his first child on 30 December as he was part of the Indian team that won a Test match against Australia in Melbourne. Subsequently, he left for Mumbai to join his wife, giving the fourth and final Test in Sydney a miss. Media professional dies after falling from building in Mumbai

A 49-year- old, media  professional died after falling from the terrace of a building in suburban Goregaon on Sunday, police said. Adarsh Mishra, who resided on  the seventh floor  of the Trimurti Society at Siddharth Nagar, went to the building’s terrace for a morning walk when he fell from there, Goregaon police station’s senior police inspector Sanjay Bhole said. It was not yet clear whether it was an accident or a case of suicide, he said, adding that Mishra everyday used to go for  a morning walk  on the building’s terrace. “The CCTV installed on the building’s seventh floor showed Mishra, clad in track pants and T-shirt, going upstairs to the terrace with a handkerchief in his hand,” Bhole said. In another CCTV put up in the building’s lobby, he was seen falling down around 10.30 am, but it was not clear what led to his fall, he said. Mishra was rushed to the nearby Siddharth Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the official said.

Supreme Court to hear Ram Janmabhoomi case on Jan 10

The Supreme Court on Friday decided to begin hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi matter on Jan 10, 2019. The matter will be heard by a constitutional bench. Today’s  hearing, which lasted for 60 seconds did not see arguments from either side. Whether the matter would be heard on a day-to-day basis would be known when the first hearing takes place, said Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha, outside the court premises.

6 killed in Himachal road accident

Six persons, including five students, were killed on Saturday when a school bus skidded off the road and rolled into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district, an official said. The victims were going to DAV Public School when the accident happened near Renukaji, a famous Hindu shrine about 40 km from district headquarter Nahan and 150 km from the state capital. The bus driver was also killed while seven-eight students were injured and are hospitalised, Deputy Commissioner Lalit Jain told IANS over phone. Eyewitnesses said the administration had a tough time extricating the victims from the badly-mangled bus. Prima facie the accident happened due to negligence of the bus driver, the police said.

Suspected terrorists shot youth in J&K

Suspected militants shot dead a youngster in Tral sub-district of south Kashmir a day after three militants were killed in a fierce gun-battle in the same area. This is the first civilian death in 2019 in the continued cycle of violence in Kashmir. The slain youngster was brother of a sarpanch who was elected unopposed during recently held village level polls in the embattled state. Sources said that unidentified assailants shot at an injured 30-year-old Simranjit Singh when he was walking on a dirt track between Diver and Khasipora villages in Tral, around 44 kilometers from here. The assailants fled away after leaving Singh in a poll of blood. However, he managed to call his relatives on phone who immediately shifted him to local hospital. He was later referred to Srinagar where he succumbed to injuries on Friday afternoon. Jammu and Kashmir : A young man dies in snow storm

In an accident in Poonch, Jammu, a soldier's army was killed and the other was seriously injured. This incident happened on Thursday morning after the snow storm. A big piece of snowfall fell on a checkpoint near the line of control. According to the information, a sharp snow storm came on Thursday morning. On the border here on the National Rifle Post in the Savjian sector, a large piece of ice fell on the chowki and two army personnel present here got into the grip. After the storm was reduced, the army launched a search campaign and the excavator of the ice was removed from the two jawans. Both of them were taken to the hospital, where Lance Naik Sapan Mehra was declared dead by doctors and Harpreet Singh was being treated at the hospital.

Comedy TV shows veteran writer and artist Bob Einstein died at the age of 76. His brother Albert Brooks gave this information on Twitter on Wednesday. Einstein is known for his composition "The Smother Brothers Comedy Hour" and "Curb Your Anthology" and Super Dave Observer for playing Zindal  Gabon . Brooks wrote in a tweet from his official Twitter account that Einstein "will always be remembered." He wrote, "Peace to my dear brother Bob Einstein's soul. A great brother, father and husband.
