Famous actor Dr. Sriram Lagu died on Tuesday evening due to illnesses at his residence in Pune. He was 92 years old. Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray paid his tribute after his death. He called them 'Natsamrat'. 'Natsamrat' is the name of the Marathi drama in which Lagu acted. NCP leader Ajit Pawar said that the news of Lagu demise is sad.
In the drama 'Natsamrat' Shriram Lagu played the role of Ganpat Belwalkar, considered a landmark for Marathi theater.
Dr. Lagu was a trained ENT surgeon along with Vijay Tendulkar, Vijay Mehta and Arvind Deshpande and all of them entered theater in Maharashtra in the post-independence period.
