India gets ready for Beating Retreat Ceremony 2020

After the celebrations of 26th January, India now gears up for Beating Retreat Ceremony.It is celebrated on 29th of January every year.The ceremony involves performances of the band of three wings of the military, The Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force at Vijay Chowk.

29th January marks the closing ceremony of Republic Day and also considered a symbol of returning of army to its barrack. Since British times this ceremony is taking place in India and is an old tradition. President Ramnath Kobind will arrive as chief guest.

The Beating Retreat ceremony begins at 6 pm on 29th January at Vijay Chowk in Delhi.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
