The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Michael Patra as deputy governor of RBI. Earlier, he was on the post of Executive Director and the position of Deputy Governor was lying vacant for the last six months.
Patra has been appointed as deputy governor for 3 years. Earlier, RBI Deputy Governor was Acharya. But he resigned from his post 6 months ago.
Urjit Patel was the deputy governor before Acharya. After which Urjit Patel was made governor.
It is believed that the Prime Minister's Office had stamped Patra's name, after which he has been made deputy governor.
