Jaipur: Earthquake tremors were felt one after the other in Rajasthan during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday night.
These tremors were felt in cities like Jaipur, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner Tonk, Jalore, Bundi. People came out of their homes out of fear. Doors and windows started rattling in many cities. Thankfully there is no news of any loss of life or property as of now. The earthquake measured 4.6 on the Richter Scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was several kilometers below the ground in Jaipur and Ganganagar districts. The earth shook when people were sleeping in the middle of the night. Due to the low intensity of the tremors, most people did not realize the earthquake.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6 is dangerous: According to geologists, the real reason for the earthquake is the strong movement in the tectonic plates. Apart from this, earthquakes are also caused due to meteor impact and volcanic eruption, mine testing and nuclear testing.
The intensity of an earthquake is measured on the Richter scale. An earthquake of magnitude 2.0 or 3.0 on this scale is mild, while a magnitude of 6 means strong.
