Dehradun: Production of five medicines of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's company Divya Pharmacy has been banned in Uttarakhand. This action has been taken after the company was accused of issuing 'misleading advertisement'.

The Uttarakhand Authorities of Ayurvedic and Unani Services has asked Divya Pharmacy, which makes Patanjali products, to stop production of five medicines. Along with this, the company has also been asked to withdraw the advertisements of these five products from the media.

This pharmacy was found to be repeatedly violating the 'Drugs and Magic Remedies Act'.

MEDICINES BANNED: In a letter issued by Dr. GCS Jangpangi, License Officer, Uttarakhand Ayurvedic and Unani Services, Divya Pharmacy has been asked to immediately stop the production of Divya Madhugrit, Divya Eye Grit Gold, Divya Thyrogrit, Divya BPgrit and Divya Lipidom. These drugs are used to control diabetes, eye infections, thyroid, blood pressure and cholesterol.

The official said that in future also Divya Pharmacy will have to take approval from the Ayurveda and Unani Licensing Authority for issuing advertisements. If the advertisements continue without approval, the pharmacy will be booked under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act and Rule 170 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

This action on Divya Pharmacy has been taken after the complaint of Kerala doctor KV Babu.

PATANJALI CLARIFIES: In a statement Patanjali said that every product and medicine in Divya Pharmacy is made according to the set standards.

The company said, "We are being attacked by people who run the business of confusion and fear in the world of medicine."

"We will not allow this conspiracy to succeed." The statement also said that Patanjali has sent its reply to the government officials and will now seek action against the complainant as the issue raised by them has already been resolved.
