MP Road Accident: 15 Die, 50 Hurt As Truck Hits Parked Buses In Satna

 

Satna: A horrific accident took place on Friday on the border of Rewa and Satna districts in Madhya Pradesh. A speeding truck hit three buses parked on the roadside. 15 people died and 50 were injured in the accident. 

The buses were carrying people returning from the Mahakumbh of Kol community held in Satna. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home Dr. Rajesh Rajora told that the injured are being sent to Rewa Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred on Churhat-Rewa National Highway in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh on Friday night. Among the 50 injured passengers, the condition of 10 is critical. 

Eight passengers died on the spot, while the rest died in the hospital. The accident happened due to bursting of a truck's tyre. The uncontrollable truck rammed three parked buses from behind. So far only 9 dead have been identified.

Buses were returning after attending Mahakumbh of Kol Samaj in Satna

These buses were returning directly after attending the Mahakumbh of Kol Samaj held in Satna. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Shivraj Singh also participated in this program. CM Shivraj was in Sidhi. As soon as he got the information, he reached Badkhara village.

It is being told that in order to mobilize the crowd in the program of Kol Tribe Mahakumbh organized in Satna, all the districts of Vindhya region were given a target of filling 300 buses to bring people. The programme ended at 5.30 pm. All the buses were going directly from Satna via Mohania Tunnel via Rampur Baghelan and Rewa.

Buses fell into gorge after truck hit them

Eyewitnesses told that the accident happened at some distance from Mohania tunnel at 9 pm. Here two buses fell into a 10 feet deep gorge after a speeding truck collided. A bus overturned on the highway itself. The truck was full of cement, overturned after the collision.

Three buses were stopped for some time near Barkhada village in Churhat police station area of Sidhi district, one kilometer away from the tunnel. Here tea and snacks were arranged for the passengers. Meanwhile, a cement-laden truck coming from behind hit all the three buses. 

10 lakh compensation

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Rs 10 lakh would be given to the families of those killed in the accident in Sidhi district.

After meeting the injured in Rewa, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan told the media that if the seriously injured need to be sent outside Rewa for better treatment, arrangements will also be made to airlift them.

He said that the accident happened when the truck lost control and rammed into the buses due to tire burst.
