Rajasthan: CM Ashok Gehlot Reads Out Old Budget Speech, Opposition Creates Ruckus

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot read out the old budget speech in the assembly today. He kept reading the old budget for about 6 minutes, then Water Supply Minister Mahesh Joshi came and whispered something to the CMr and he stopped. Gehlot's speech stopped, the opposition began creating a ruckus and stormed into the well of the House.

Speaker C P Joshi asked them to maintain order but the Opposition continued its uproar, leading to the House being adjourned for half-an-hour.

This has happened for the first time in the history, when the old budget speech has been read out in an assembly and due to strong uproar, the proceedings of the House had to be stopped twice. 

Gehlot apologizes

When CM Gehlot stood up for the budget speech for the third time, he apologized. He said, I feel sorry for whatever happened.

After the adjournment, Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs staged a sit-in inside the well of the House. They said the budget had been leaked.

After this, the Chief Minister summoned Chief Secretary Usha Sharma and expressed displeasure over the negligence of the officers.  He, however, denied that the budget had been leaked. 

When the proceedings of the House resumed, CM Ashok Gehlot clarified. Said: I got an extra page by mistake. I misread a page. Where did the question of leaking come from?

Even on this the ruckus of the Opposition continued. BJP remained adamant on CM's apology. The proceedings of the House had to be adjourned again.

For the first time in Rajasthan, the proceedings of the house were adjourned during the budget speech, first for about half an hour, then for 15 minutes.

On the resumption of the House, Speaker CP Joshi said that whatever happened is unfortunate, we found out about it in the past. The speech given by the CM will not be right. Saddened by today's
