Russia-Ukraine War: US Will Welcome Any Initiative By PM Modi For Restoration Peace

Washington: America has said that it will welcome any effort that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is willing to undertake to ensure immediate cessation of hostilities between Russia-Ukraine and restoration of peace.

America's National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the US wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the initiative to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Kirby was asked a question about the war in the White House on Friday whether PM Modi can still stop this war by talking to President Putin. In response, Kirby said this.

There's still time for Putin to stop war

Kirby said- think there's still time for Putin to stop the war. For this PM Modi should make whatever efforts he is willing to undertake. The US would welcome any effort that could lead to an end of hostilities in Ukraine.

Modi's statement was a statement of principles

Kirby also referred to PM Modi's statement. In fact, Modi had said during his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that this is not an era of war.

Kirby said that Modi's statement was a statement of principles, which he believed was right and that the US had welcomed his statement and Europe had also accepted it in a positive way.

PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on January 7 on the sidelines of the SCO meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This meeting lasted for 50 minutes.

During this, Modi had said, 'Today's era is not of war. We have also talked about this on the phone many times that democracy runs on diplomacy and dialogue. We have been with each other every moment for the last several decades. I am grateful to you for the sentiments you have expressed for India at the SCO Summit today.'

This statement was accepted by world leaders and praised by the international media.

Russia accuses West of fanning flames

Meanwhile, Russia has warned the US and its allies not to send more weapons to Kyiv saying that this would prolong the war. Earlier this week, Russia accused the West of fanning the flames.

Russia warned the United Kingdom against sending fighter jets to Ukraine, saying such a move would have serious military and political ramifications for the entire world.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to send fighter jets to Ukraine to help it fight the Russian forces.
