Madhya Pradesh: Nutritious Kodo-Kutki Products And Recipes Gaining Popularity In Dindori

Dindori (Madhya Pradesh): With the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the year 2023 has been declared as International Year of Millets. In Madhya Pradesh too, continuous efforts are being made to promote millets. As millets have high nutritious value, there is a high demand in foreign countries. 

Different types of millets are produced and used in different regions of Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi also praised Lahari Bai of Dindori district of the state in "Mann Ki Baat" for promoting Millets.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that the outstanding work done by Lahari Bai, a resident of Dindori district for the conservation of millets "Shree Ann", has boosted the pride of the state.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi tweeted while appreciating the efforts being made enthusiastically by Lahari Bai of Dindori district for the conservation of "Shree Ann" and wrote that - 'Lahari Bai's efforts will also motivate others to preserve and adopt "Shree Ann."


Various units established in Dindori to make Kodo-Kutki products

Various products and recipes of Kodo-Kutki have been prepared in Dindori with the help of MP Women and Finance Corporation. Kodo-Kutki Barfi, Cookies, Bread, Toast, Namkeen and Khichdi etc. are being prepared. For this, various units have been established and are being operated successfully.

Millets are highly adaptable to all kinds of conditions. They have minimum requirement of water, fertilizers and pesticides. Compared to other cereals, it is a nutritious crop with a better micronutrient profile and bioactive flavonoids for health. 

Dindori district of the state is famous for Kodo-Kutki , which is rich in protein, calcium, iron, magnesium etc. The glycemic index of Kodo-Kutki is low. It keeps the person energetic for a longer time. 

The Department of Women and Child Development provides nutritional supplements to children up to 6 years of age, pregnant and lactating mothers in Anganwadi centers of the state. Due to this, the deficiency of nutrients can be overcome.
