Rajasthan Politics: Jat Mahakumbh In Jaipur; Both Congress And BJP Want To Woo Jats But Are In A Quandary Regarding The Community's Demands

Jaipur: Jat Mahakumbh was organized on Sunday 5 March at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Before the assembly elections, the Jat Mahakumbh raised the political temperature of the state.

Jats are not traditionally associated with any party. In both Congress and BJP, many leaders of the Jat community hold important positions. The population of Jats in Rajasthan is about 22 percent and so both parties want to woo them for political gains. Both BJP and Congress have prominent Jat leaders in Rajasthan. The present state presidents of both Congress and BJP belong to Jat community.

Assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan after eight months. In view of the election opportunity, many castes of the state have started putting pressure on the government regarding their demands.

It is claimed about 10 lakh people participated in this Mahakumbh organized on the initiative of Jat leaders Rajaram Mill and Vijay Poonia.

Leaders of both Cong and BJP were present

Leaders of BJP and Congress were also seen on one stage in Mahakumbh. Rajasthan government ministers Hemaram Choudhary, Brijendra Ola, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and many other leaders were present in Mahakumbh.

At the same time, on behalf of the BJP, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary, BJP State President Satish Poonia and some other leaders also appeared on the stage.

Jat community has influence on 30 assembly seats

The Jat community has influence on 30 assembly seats in Rajasthan. The Jats plays an important role in every assembly election. Voters of this community have been voting for both BJP and Congress. That's why both the parties are eyeing this community. This community is very important in the politics of Rajasthan. It has also been seen that this community can change the election results with their votes.

BJP had to bear the brunt of Jats' anger

In 2018, resentment arose in the community against BJP. Efforts were made by the BJP to remove this displeasure. CM Vasundhara Raje projected herself as daughter-in-law of Jat. But the displeasure of the Jat community did not go away. BJP also had to bear the brunt of their anger. Congress got 18 out of 30 seats that have the influence of Jat community and Ashok Gehlot became the CM.

Hanuman Beniwal did not participate in Mahakumbh

The new party RLP emerged only after the 2018 elections. It was formed by former BJP leader Hanuman Beniwal. During the farmer's movement, he targeted the BJP but Hanuman Beniwal did not participate in this Mahakumbh of Jats. Since then it is being said that everything is not going well in the Jat community.

Demand of Jat Chief Minister was prominently raised

In every election, a large number of MLAs from the Jat community win. Despite this, since independence till now, no Jat has become the Chief Minister in Rajasthan. Through this Jat Mahakumbh, the demand of Jat Chief Minister was prominently raised. The MLAs of Jat community have an important role in forming the government.

Cong leader Rameshwar Dudi openly raised demand of Jat CM

Former Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rameshwar Dudi openly raised the demand of Jat CM in Jat Mahakumbh. Dudi said that in the upcoming assembly elections to be held in Rajasthan, only the son of a farmer and the son of a Jat should be the chief minister.

For me Jat community is first, party later: Dotasara

State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara said that for him his Jat community is first and the party later. The position he holds in the Congress today is only because of the blessings of the people of the society.

Now we all need to unite: Satish Poonia

On the other hand BJP state president Satish Poonia said that Jats in the state have the courage to create and uproot the government. Now we all need to unite to take the society and the country forward. Poonia said that we have to show the power of social unity but do not have a feeling of enmity towards any society. We will move forward only if we take everyone along.

Caste census and hike in OBC reservation demanded

Besides Jat CM, the other prominent demands made in the Jat Mahakumbh are a caste census and to hike the reservation of OBCs from 21 percent to 27 percent. Just as the parties cannot openly support the demand of a Jat CM, so they cannot support the other two demands. So a big crisis has arisen in front of both Congress and BJP. Both want the Jat community to support them, but both the parties are in a quandary regarding the demands of the society.

Both Cong & BJP can neither support nor reject demands

These demands are such that BJP and Congress can neither refuse nor openly support them because people of other societies will get angry with caste census. Similarly, it is not easy for political parties to announce increase in reservation quota and no party wants to openly talk about Jat Chief Minister.  Now it has to be seen what will be the stand of the Jat community during the upcoming elections.
