Uttar Pradesh: Will Gangster Atiq Ahmed Get Death Sentence Or Life Imprisonment, Decision Soon

Prayagraj: The fear of death is visible on the face of gangster Atiq Ahmed, once synonymous with fear in Purvanchal. In the case of murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, the special court of MP MLA can pronounce its verdict at any time. 

Five accused, including gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, were named in the case. While 4 unknown were made accused. 

Umesh Pal, a relative of Raju Pal, who was the main witness in this case, was abducted on February 28, 2006. The allegation of kidnapping was leveled against Atiq Ahmed and his accomplices. Umesh then alleged that Atiq assaulted and threatened to kill him. Now the time has come for decision in this matter.

Atiq was brought to Prayagraj from Sabarmati Jail under warrant. Tight security arrangements were made from Naini Jail to the court. The force was deployed in major areas of the city. 

On March 27, the police had reached Prayagraj's Naini Jail with the mafia Atiq Ahmed from Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail.

Provision for death sentence in the case

Advocate Shashwat Anand of the Allahabad High Court said that the abductors have also been accused of murder. In such a situation, there is also a provision of death sentence under section 364A. Plaintiff Umesh Pal has also been murdered and the charge of murder is also on the abductors. In such a situation, the crime becomes more serious. He said, if Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf are found guilty, then there is a provision of punishment ranging from 10 years of imprisonment to death. Umesh Pal had completed his testimony in rhis case while he was still alive.
