Prayagraj (UP): Mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night. When the police was taking Atiq to MLN Hospital for medical tests, three men attacked the police vehicle. Atiq and Ashraf were killed in the attack. All the three attackers have been arrested. Although the UP police are not saying anything on this matter right now. Atiq's lawyer said both receivedf more than 10 bullet wounds.
The attack took place when Atiq and Ashraf were in police custody. The assailants have been identified as Arun Maurya, Sunny and Lovlesh. The daring murder in the presence of police has sent shock waves in the city. According to the reports, the firing took place inside MLN Medical College premises where they had been taken for medical examination in Prayagraj. Atiq and Ashraf were apparently talking to some reporters when the attack took place. The attack took place from pointblank range.
Killing has thrown up many questions
The shocking killing has thrown up many questions including one on the security of the UP Police. The incident was caught on the camera as Atiq and Ashraf were being brought to the hospital for their medical check-up. Earlier in the day, the last rites of Atiq's son Asad Ahmad were performed.

Uttar Pradesh Police has not yet released any statement on the murder of Atiq and Ashraf. The murder of Atiq and Ashraf has been recorded on camera and its videos are being shared on social media. In the video, the police is not seen retaliating against the attackers.
Some people are creating atmosphere of fear: Akhilesh
Raising questions on the murders, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter, "Crime has reached its peak in Uttar Pradesh and the morale of the criminals is high. If it can happen, then what about the safety of the general public? Due to this, an atmosphere of fear is being created among the public, it seems that some people are deliberately creating such an atmosphere."
On the other hand Asauddin Owaisi tweeted: Atiq and his brother were killed while in police custody and were handcuffed. Slogans of JSR were also raised. Their murder is a perfect example of Yogi’s big failure of law & order. Those celebrating encounter-raj are equally responsible for this murder.
