Rajasthan: Gehlot Government and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at loggerheads over Section 144 in Udaipur


UDAIPUR: In Rajasthan these days there is a political uproar over the implementation of Section 144 in Udaipur district banning hoisting of religious flags. The BJP has accused the Gehlot government in this matter. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that it is outrageous that permission will have to be taken from the administration for hoisting the religious flag in Udaipur.


On the other hand, Gehlot's minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas hit back at the BJP. Khachariyawas said that the BJP could neither succeed in inciting riots on Ram Navami like last time nor on Hanuman Janmotsav. 


He said when BJP failed in the plan of riots, now with these allegations, BJP wants to spoil the atmosphere on the land of Mewar. Khachariyawas said that no party has the right to take law into their own hands, be it BJP or Congress, SP and BSP.


Udaipur Collector has enforced section 144 in Udaipur. There is a prohibition on hoisting flags with religious symbols for 2 months without permission. Section 144 implemented for the next two months from April 5.


Targeting Hindus is political policy of  Congress: Shekhawat 


In fact, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had alleged that consider the chronology that this prohibition was issued after the religious meeting of Bageshwar Dham. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat strongly attacked the Gehlot government by linking this matter with Hindutva and said that targeting Hindus has been the permanent political policy of the Congress. Congress is against the saffron flag, Shekhawat said adding that in particular this order has been issued for the saffron flag.


Attack on people's religious faith: Poonia 


Deputy Leader of Opposition and former State President of BJP Satish Poonia has also attacked Rajasthan government over the issue. Poonia said that this order a day before Hanuman Jayanti is a kind of attack on the religious faith of the people of not only Udaipur but the whole of Rajasthan. He blamed the Congress government for the deteriorating law and order situation in Rajasthan.


Poonia said that the dictatorial order has been issued by the Congress government of Rajasthan. The appeasement policy of the Congress has once again come to the fore.


Collector used the constitutional right - Khachariyawas 


On the other hand, Pratap Singh Khachariawas, a minister in the Gehlot government, says that it is the collector's right to impose section 144 to maintain law and order. The minister said that whoever takes the law in the name of religion and caste will spread riots. What is the problem with the imposition of section 144 to handle law and order.


Plans for riots will not succeed - Khachariyawas 


Khachariawas, a minister in the Gehlot government, said that the BJP is conspiring to incite riots. He said Section 144 is imposed to maintain law and order. It has to be seen in a positive way. If BJP is planning riots in Rajasthan, it will not be allowed to succeed.
