Gujarat's Mysterious Disappearing Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple About Which It Is Believed That Lord Kartikeya Had Built It

We are talking about 'Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple' located in the state of Gujarat. It is one of the most famous temples in Gujarat as well as in India.

There is a very special thing about Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple in Gujarat. The Sea comes to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shankar in this supernatural temple. This temple is located in Kavi Kamboi village, about 60 kilometers from Vadodara city in the state of Gujarat.


This is the ancient temple of Lord Shiva-Shankar. It disappears twice a day and reappears after some time. For this reason it is also famous by the name of 'Disappearing Temple'.

It is believed to be one of the most sacred temples, built by Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.


According to the Puranas, Kartikeya was born to kill the demon king Tarakasura, who had captured all the three worlds – Prithvi Lok, Patal Lok and Swarg Lok. Tarakasura had tortured every life of the three worlds so much that Lord Kartikeya had to kill him.

After killing Tarakasura, Lord Kartikeya was feeling guilty and bad because the demon king was a true devotee of Lord Shiva. Thus he decided to build three temples dedicated to Lord Shiva with the help of Lord Vishwakarma, installed the Shivalinga and prayed for his forgiveness.


The sea passes through this area twice a day in the morning and evening to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Due to this unique phenomenon, this place attracts lakhs of tourists throughout the year to witness this extraordinary view of nature.
